proALPHA at Cebit 2011
Focus on Versatile ERP
Jan 28, 2011
The proALPHA group, provider of the complete ERP solution proALPHA will present its software and service portfolio for medium-sized industrial, trade and service businesses during the 2011 CeBIT fair. As usual, interested visitors will find the ERP specialist on the Hanover fair grounds in hall 5, stand 18. This year's focus will be set on variants generation and CAD integration. Visitors will be shown how to master the number of variants requested by their customers and simplify design with the help of the proALPHA product configurator.
Increasingly individualized products and the achievement of shorter response times require to think more and more in variants. Customizing and assembling instead of a new design for each product promise short response times without holding a large inventory and ensure a wide range of quasi individual products. The link of the variants configurator to real 3D models even goes one step further: Error-free products are generated due to the hardly limited possibilities of professional design in the speed and with the cost of mere variants configuration.
Product Configuration to Shorten Process Chains
Product or variants configuration is the philosophy and technology between product development, production and customer requirements. It aims at economically and quickly producing customer-defined products in lot size 1 at minimum effort. The product configurator is an integrated part of proALPHA. It is designed to lead users - end customers or consultants - through the "construction" of even complex structures according to individually defined schemes and choices for product characteristics. Preset logics and plausibility checks avoid combinations of product characteristics or components which cannot be produced or which are not reasonable. Various product and variants configuration tools available on the market claim these capabilities for themselves. Integration of the proALPHA product configurator, however, facilitates functions exceeding a mere configuration process: Direct availability of all components, estimating based on current pricing for all purchased parts including surcharges and "real" costs for components manufactured in-house. This avoids frustration and annoyed customers: There is nothing more annoying than receiving an offered product too late or even without knowing the price. And the process chain continues: As soon as the customer has confirmed the order, all generated data are combined to create the customer order including CAD drawing, bill of materials and master file.
"This extraordinary level of integration is possible, because all proAL-PHA modules are developed in-house. This is why document man-agement and CAD systems can be linked smoothly to the product configurator via CA-Link. Customer satisfaction and efficiency in pro-duction do not necessarily exclude each other," this is how Werner Ernst, CEO of proALPHA Software AG, brings the advantages of the integrated solution to the point.
